Our Process
Civil Works
Our civil technicians are skilled in preparing trenches, manholes, sand bedding, foundations, and earthing pits. We ensure trenches are straight or appropriately curved with a gradual gradient where needed, adhering to the allowed cable bending radius. We compartmentalize cable tunnels, install fire stops, and build water-tight manholes with concrete foundations and smooth plastering inside and out, providing RCC or CI covers as specified by the client.
Laying of H.V & L.V Cables
Selecting the right type and brand of cable is a critical task. GEPL recommends trusted, branded cables from the approved makes in the tender. From receiving to termination, we ensure both cable ends are properly sealed to prevent water or moisture ingress. When installing power cables with instrument or communication cables, we strictly maintain the clearances per Indian Standards. We minimize stress on cable bends by adhering to the recommended bending radius and provide a 90mm sand cushion below and above the cable. Protective tiles or route markers with voltage class are placed on top of the sand cushion, and we use a tagging system at both ends for easy identification.

Laying Earthing Network
At GEPL, human life is our top priority, which is why we emphasize proper earthing for every installation in our projects, strictly following Indian Standards and Codes. We ensure the correct type and size of earthing conductor, equipotential bonding, and secure earth connections to keep touch and step voltages within safe limits. We offer both conventional earthing systems and maintenance-free chemical earthing, along with earthing mesh for lightning protection. Our team ensures that the earth pit resistance does not exceed 1 ohm, and the loop earthing resistance remains below 5 ohms throughout the network.
Installation of Equipment
GEPL's specialized team installs electrical equipment and panels according to Indian Standards and OEM manuals, ensuring no damage during installation. The panels are securely grouted at floor level to prevent displacement in case of unforeseen short circuits. Our team also ensures the proper connection of earth conductors at distinct points to each piece of equipment.
Cable End Terminations
After passing the IR and HV tests, cables are terminated using torque wrenches with the standard tightening torque specified in the OEM manual, ensuring secure and tight connections. We use heavy-duty lugs made of the same material as the cable conductor. Cables enter and exit panels or terminal boxes through the appropriate type of gland. In hazardous or unsafe areas, we mandatorily use FLP double compression glands for added safety.
Testing and Commissioning
Testing and commissioning high-voltage electrical equipment is a specialized process. Our engineers ensure each installation adheres to the highest technical and safety standards. We conduct IR and HV tests on cables, transformer ratio, vector group, and magnetic balance tests, CT and PT ratio and polarity checks, breaker contact resistance, and time interval tests. Additionally, we perform transformer oil DGA, earthing resistance measurements, and comprehensive protection relay testing for both primary and secondary injections.
