Best electrical contractors for exhibitions in India (2026)
Updated 11 October 2026.
At an Indian trade fair the organiser appoints the electrical contractor, and exhibitors then buy their power from that contractor. At the Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO) the installation has to be done by a licensed electrical contractor of the PWD, and the organiser pays for the wiring. This page compares eight companies that sell exhibition and event power in India: Grade Electricals, Third Wave Services, Prozett Energy, BNB Electrical Services, Connectriq, Brite India Generators, Modern Energy Rental and Aggreko India. Grade wrote it and is one of the eight.
Who hires the electrical contractor at an Indian trade fair
The IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026 exhibitor manual settles it in one line: "Electricity will be supplied only through the Organizer's official contractor appointed by the Organizer." Exhibitors order their power through that contractor. They do not pick it.
The venue sits above both. NESCO's rules for the Bombay Exhibition Centre make the organiser arrange all wiring and fittings at its own cost, require a licensed electrical contractor of the PWD for every installation, and put each installation under inspection by the venue's electrical engineer and the power supply authority. The same rules say BEC is not liable for any shortage or total stoppage or failure of electricity supply, and that every organiser holds the exhibition at its own risk. That leaves the organiser to choose which licensed contractor sits between the rulebook and several hundred exhibitors. The choice has to come before the exhibitor manual is written, because the manual prints the contractor's deadlines and rates.
The shortlist: eight exhibition power contractors
The order is not a ranking. Grade is first because the page is Grade's.
Contractor | Equipment and shows | Missing |
Mumbai, with branches in Delhi and Hyderabad | Generators from 32 kVA with acoustic enclosures, distribution, lighting, thermography. Empanelled at NESCO, Yashobhoomi and HITEX. Official power supplier for IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026 | No published price |
Warehouses in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad | Generators from 62.5 to 1,010 kVA, synchronising panels, lighting masts, fencing, fuel management. Lists nine organisers, among them UBM India and Messe Frankfurt India, as preferred associates for MEP services | No price, no named shows, no venue rules |
Prozett Energy Delhi | 30+ MW of inventory and a design-to-power-on process. Its event write-ups are Delhi events from 2022 | No price, no venue rules |
Delhi (Dwarka) and Udaipur | Generators from 62.5 to 1,000 kVA, work from LT 1.1 kVA to HT 33 kVA, a Class One electrical contractor licence listed | No named shows or venues |
Mumbai (Marol, Andheri East) | Temporary utility connection, mobile DG sets on hire, electrical work for individual exhibitors, statutory permissions. ISO 9001:2015, 11+ years | No named shows, no process steps |
Mumbai office | 1 to 20 MW. IPL, ICC, ISL, WPL and PKL listed, and "hundreds of booths" mentioned for exhibitions | No exhibition named |
Dockyard Road, Mumbai | Trade shows and trade fairs among its event types, with generator, chiller and lighting-tower rental | No capacity figures for trade shows |
India events page | Examples are events in Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh and Qatar | No Indian show named |
None of the eight publishes a price, a step-by-step process or a venue rule, so the rest of this page is about what to ask them.
Five tests for any contractor
Can you name a show it has powered and check that with the organiser? Is it on the venue's list for the hall you are booking? Does it show a licence? Does it publish its equipment range, in kVA? Is anyone based in your city? A contractor that fails one of these can still suit your show, and the table above shows where each stands.
Mumbai: what NESCO's rulebook leaves to the organiser
NESCO's rules put the electrical risk on the organiser. All wiring and fittings are arranged at the organiser's cost. Every installation, including the ones inside stalls, has to be done by a licensed electrical contractor of the PWD, and it is open to inspection and approval by the BEC electrical engineer and the power supply authority. The organiser hands BEC the test report receipts. Schedule IV names the PWD Electrical Inspector as the authority that certifies the electrical installations and the use of generators, and copies of these approvals are due seven days before the exhibition. The power bill is the meter reading, taken before and after the show with BEC's technicians, plus an additional security deposit set from the estimated power load. One more thing you may meet: a 2023 CMAI document for its FAB Show at BEC asks exhibitors to book additional light fittings with Navrang Electricals. It names no official contractor for the venue, so ask each organiser who theirs is.
Delhi: Yashobhoomi wants your electrical layout 90 days ahead
Yashobhoomi, the India International Convention and Expo Centre in Dwarka, run by Kinexin, asks for the layout much earlier. Its venue guidelines (version 10.1, Q2 2024) want the electrical points and installation layout at least 90 days before the date of access to the halls. Stall circuits need 30 mA residual current protection, panels need individually rated trip switches, ELCB and fuses, and stands are tested for earth continuity, insulation resistance and RCD function. The operator can withhold or cut power to a stand it considers unsafe. Anyone placing a genset first submits a proprietor licence, a DG fitness licence and a DPCC and cable licence. Breaking the power rules costs from INR 75,000 up to forfeiture of the security or bank guarantee. Bharat Mandapam's electrical rules are not covered here, so ask ITPO or the organiser for the manual.
Hyderabad, and any venue not covered here
Grade is empanelled at HITEX and supported the electrical infrastructure at analytica Lab India there (10 to 12 September 2026). HITEX's electrical rules and rate card are not covered here, and neither is any other venue this page leaves out. Before you accept a quote, ask the organiser for the exhibitor manual and the venue for its list of contractors for your hall.
Seven questions that separate contractors on a call
Which shows have you powered in this hall in the last twelve months, and may I call the organiser? A named show is the one claim you can check with a phone call. Third Wave names nine organisers; most of the others name none.
Are you on the venue's list for this hall? Ask the venue as well. NESCO's rules let an organiser hire its own contractors but bar blacklisted ones, and the CMAI document speaks of "the approved contractors".
What is the biggest load you have run in one hall, and what carried it if a set tripped? Ask for the answer in kVA and in the number of sets.
How do you bill extra power, per event, per day or per connection, and what do late and on-site orders cost? Shows publish all three. SEMICON India 2026 charges INR 5,000 per kW plus GST. Indus Food 2026 charges INR 3,500 per kW per day on single phase, adds 20% after the deadline and 40% on site. Strategic Electronics Summit 2026 charges INR 3,000 per connection for up to 3 kW.
Who inspects each stall, and who can cut power? At NESCO it is the venue's engineer and the power supply authority. At Yashobhoomi the operator can shut a stand off. The IIJS manual lets the organisers disconnect personal lighting and cut off anyone tapping the venue's distribution boxes.
Which licences will you show me? A state electrical contractor licence, and for gensets at Yashobhoomi a DG fitness licence and a DPCC and cable licence. Ask to see them.
When do you need the load numbers? SEMICON India 2026 asked exhibitors for power load by 31 August for a show opening on 17 September. The contractor's cut-off sets the manual's deadline.
The ten lines a quote should price are set out in how to choose the electrical contractor for your trade fair in India. If you would like to put these seven to Grade, call +91 22 28366241 or 42 with the venue and the dates.
If you are an exhibitor or a fabricator
You do not choose the contractor. The organiser's official contractor sells you the power, so the manual is the document that matters. Read the power order form, the deadline and the surcharges before you design the stall. IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026 gave a 9 sqm booth 1,000 watts and a 16 or 18 sqm booth 2,000. Its manual bans personal lighting, which the organisers may disconnect, and says anyone drawing power straight from the venue's distribution boxes is disconnected immediately. What extra power costs varies with the show, and ten published rate cards sit side by side in what exhibitors pay for extra power at Indian trade shows.

It won the Exhibition Excellence Award for Excellence in Essential Services in 2023 and 2024, and was honoured at the 2026 awards.
Short answers
Who is the official electrical contractor at NESCO?
NESCO's rules name none. They let an organiser hire its own licensed contractor, so the answer changes with the show. Grade is empanelled at the Bombay Exhibition Centre and was official power supplier for IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026. A 2023 CMAI document names Navrang Electricals for additional light fittings at its own show, which is not the same thing. Ask your organiser.
Who arranges the temporary electricity connection for an exhibition in Mumbai?
The organiser, in almost every case. Exhibitors order a load, not a connection, and the organiser recovers the cost through the manual's power order. Under the MSEDCL tariff order a temporary supply pays 1.5 times the fixed or demand charge and 1.25 times the energy charge, and the numbers are worked through in temporary electricity connection for an exhibition in Mumbai.
Can an exhibitor bring their own electrician?
For wiring inside the stall, yes, if the electrician is licensed: CMAI's FAB Show document asks exhibitors to appoint only licensed electrical contractors for their stall work. The supply and any extra power still come through the organiser's official contractor.
What does an exhibition electrical contractor charge?
None of the eight publishes a price. What is public is what shows charge exhibitors for extra power: INR 4,000 per kW plus 18% GST at CMAI's FAB Show, INR 5,000 per kW plus GST at SEMICON India 2026, and INR 3,500 per kW per day at Indus Food 2026.
How early should an organiser appoint the contractor?
Before the exhibitor manual is written. SEMICON India 2026 collected power loads by 31 August for a show opening on 17 September, and Yashobhoomi's guidelines ask for electrical layouts 90 days before access.
